Activity Plan

  1. “INTELLIGENT MINDS”

    Online Programming Contest 2013-2014

    For Epoka University Students

    “Intelligent Minds” online Programming Contests are series of competitions aiming to develop and increase programming skills of youngsters.

    Objectives of the competition:

    • help young generations to develop their programming skills

    • help students to develop instantaneous solutions for problems

    • develop abilities to work in groups

    • use acquired skills and knowledge to provide innovative and creative solutions

    • participate in the future of technology and software industry

    • contribute Albanian society in computer science

    • learn new technological skills

    • test yourself against the other students from the field

    • make new friends

    The contest :

    The contest has two phases.

    • The group competition phase

    • Individual  competition phase

    The first phase is organized in groups and prepares the students to the individual phase.

    Group Phase:

    The contest is organized as a series of competitions for Epoka University students. This group phase aims to prepare students for the individual contest.

    • The contest series includes 1 preparatory contest and 3 other contests

    • Every contest will have 4 questions.

    • Problems can be solved in C/C++ or Java programming languages.

    • The contest is for group of 3 or 4 students

    • Any undergraduate student from any department of Epoka University can participate.

    • There can be at most 2 or 3 members from the same grade, and at least one member must be from a different grade.

    • The groups will submit their solutions using the same username. Any user from the group can solve any question.

    • The teams can participate to the first and second contests online from anywhere. The final contest for finalist candidates will be organized at the university lab.

    Online Contester Ranking Calculation

    1. The students are put descending order according to the number of questions solved.

    2. If many students solve the same number of questions, then, they are put in ascending order according to the time spent solving the questions.

    3. Every wrong submission is count 20 minutes time penalty

    4. The ranking after the 3 contests is calculated according to the number of questions solved and the time used (penalty) in all three contests.

    1. 9-Nov-13, Preparatory contest

    2. 14-Dec-13, The First contest

    3. 11-Jan-14, The Second Contest

    4. 1-Mar-14, The Final Contest

    Individual Competition Phase

    Individual contest phase has two exams and a camp week. The first individual exam is to select the candidate students for the camp and final exam.

    1. 29-Mar-14, The First Individual Exam

    2. 21-26 April 2014, Study Camp Period

    3. 3 May-14, The Second Individual Exam

    The top 12 students of the first individual exam will be invited to the study camp. The students will have courses and some small exams throughout the week. The student results will be calculated  using the following formula

    • 15% of the first individual exam

    • 35% of the study camp exams

    • 50% of the second individual (Final) exam

    • The students in the winning teams will get certificates.

    Individual Phase:

    • The Participants will get participation certificate

    • The top 6 students will get Diploma (1xFirst Place; 2xSecond Place; 3xThird Place)

    • Top 3 students will be invited to represent Epoka University at ACM South Eastern Europe Contest at Romania.

 

Informatics Stars (IS2014)

Online Programming Contest For High School Students

General Information

 The demand for informatics is growing every day in the world. According to a research “Information and Communication Technologies” is one of the top professions among high school students.

The Informatics Stars Online Programming Contest is a national competition oriented to high-school students organized by EPOKA University. We invite all high school students to use their imagination and passion to solve challenging problems:

The Contest is a chance to:

  • use acquired skills and knowledge to provide innovative and creative solutions

  • participate in the future of technology and software industry

  • contribute to Albanian society in computer science

  • learn new technological skills.

  • test yourself against the brightest students around Albania.

  • make new friends.

Deadlines

Online Registration Deadline:     April 20, 2013

Contest :   April 26, 2014

Prizes:

The students will get certificates and the following scholarships from Faculty of Architecture and Engineering:

  • 1st place: 100% scholarship

  • 2nd place: 50% scholarship

Registration and Rules

Official language of INFORMATICS STARS ONLINE PROGRAMMING CONTEST is Albanian and English. The questions will be in English and Albanian only.

Registration

  • The registration for the competition can be completed on the web site: http://cen.epoka.edu.al/impc

  • Participants must be less than 19 years old and registered to a high school that meet high school education requirements.

  • 11th and 12th year students from high schools can take part in the contest

  • If an 11th grade student gets a degree in the contest, his/her scholarship is reserved for the year after.

  • Participants are responsible of what information they enter during registration. In case of any misspelled name or any other information organization committee won’t accept any responsibility.

  • For international contestants: Please enter the participant’s name in the registration form carefully, which will be used for the visa invitation. A spelling mistake may cause trouble for you during visa application.

  • Registered participant student names cannot be changed after the deadline of registration.

  • There are sample questions on the site and participants can practice for the contest after their registration.

  • There will be 5 programming questions.
